Relaxed Muscles: A Key To A Pain Free Life
Repetitive Strain Injury Massage

Repetitive Strain Injury, also called occupational overuse syndrome, can refer to different conditions that result from actvities which require repetitive movment or from over using a tool such as a computer. These conditions include: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Golfer’s Elbow, Tennis Elbow, Tendonitis and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. They involve the muscles, tendons and nerves of the hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders or upper back and can become worse when no treatment is given and if the person has to keep doing what causes the condition in the first place, like computer work.

Registered Massage Therapists have a specific treatment for each of these conditions which can be very helpful in relieving the pain and in some cases solving the problem. For some of these conditions, which involve the inflamation of a tendon, the therapist may use a technique called frictions, to try to separate and loosen the tendons from each other and from sticky fluid or debris that might be in the area. In some cases the therapist will use ice and for some heat at the end of the treatment, in combination with a stretch, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage. At Caring Touch Massage Therapy Clinic, homework will also be given, which will likely include exercises, stretches and some tips for better posture to try to prevent the condition from returning. These treatments normally take a few sessions. They take a while to develop and will usually take a while to heal. So the therapist will likely recommend at least a few consecutive treatments.
